Dr. Rod J. Rohrich has a profound professional background in plastic surgery. He is the founding chairman and professor of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and sits on numerous boards related to his practice. He was previously on the board of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for quite some time.
Dr. Rohrich was also section chairman of the American Medical Association. He also sits on the board of philanthropic organizations such as March of Dimes, Dallas Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Save the Children Dallas, Member of the Dallas for Children Foundation, and honorary co-chair of the Dallas for Children Foundation. His philanthropic efforts span into his personal life. Each year he sponsors a medical student who is going to practice primary care in North Dakota. He is now a professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Rohrich also serves as part of the faculty of the annual Baker Gordon Educational Symposium. He moderates and participates in panel discussions. In 2018, Dr. Rohrich will be moderating Pragmatic Solutions in Lower Lid Blepharoplasty, What Works – Facial Rejuvenation, and another panel titled Elegant Outcomes in Body Contour Surgery. The Symposium is the largest one featuring live surgery. It has been held for decades and dates back to 1967. The Baker Gordon Symposium has been able to successfully train thousands of plastic surgeons. What makes it special is that it gives surgeons in training the ability to view live surgeries as they are happening. Dr. Rohrich will also perform surgery himself at the symposium, conducting a Primary Open Rhinoplasty.
In addition to that, Dr. Rohrich will moderate several meetings on rhinoplasty nasal tip surgery, transecting the lower lateral cartilage, advanced nasal anatomy, and finesse management of the Hispanic nose, among other subjects. The professor is considered a leader in his field, having authored more than 600 peer-reviewed articles, five textbooks, and fifty chapters. He is the editor of Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery and the editor-in-chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He has chaired more than 100 symposia covering the subject of plastic surgery both nationally and internationally. Dr. Rohrich has spoken extensively on plastic surgery, conducting 1500 talks. The doctor and professor also has a lengthy list of accomplishments and recognitions. He was named one of the best doctors in Dallas, a notable North Dakotan, and he’s been named one of the best doctors in America, holding the title since 1996.
